I found this post on LinkedIn:
TO THE UNVACCINATED-
I'm fully vaccinated and done with my booster shot schedule ( or for me, my 3rd shot). No, I don't know "what's in it". Neither this vaccine nor the ones I had as a child. Nor do I know what's in the 11 secret herbs and spices at KFC.
I also don't know exactly what's in Ibuprofen or any other painkiller-- they just treat my headaches & my pains. I don't know what's in tattoo ink, botox and fillers, or every ingredient in my soap, shampoo, cosmetics or deodorants. I don’t know the long term effect of mobile phone use, longterm effect of viewing computer screens WIFI waves or whether or not that restaurant I just ate at REALLY used clean foods and washed their hands.
There are a lot of things I don't know. I do know one thing: life is short. Very short. And I, personally, still want to do things. I want to travel and hug people without fear, and find a little feeling of life "before".
Throughout my life I've been vaccinated against many diseases: Measles, mumps, rubella, polio, chickenpox, hepatitis, influenza, tetanus, shingles virus and even our pets, to rabies. We trusted the science, and never had to suffer through or transmit any of those said diseases.
I'm vaccinated. Not because I’m a sheep or to please the government. Not to make other people do it.
But I don't want to:
die from Covid-19
clutter a hospital bed if I get sick
not be able to hug & visit my loved ones
give Covid to a friend or family whose immune system can’t create the same level of protection
not be able to travel & enjoy events
live my life in fear
Can't say it any clearer. I'm vaccinated for me and I wear a mask for you!!
I don’t actually have the guts to post a response but here’s what I would say:
I’m unlike you in many ways.
I am aware of all the ingredients I eat and all the products I use. I don’t take Ibuprofen and I don’t get tattoos. I stay off my phone and I don’t eat fast food. Am I justified to not get the vaccine?
Like you, I enjoy traveling and hugging. But, unlike you, I don’t live in fear, and my actions aren’t impacted by an injection; I don’t need a vaccine to have peace of mind. So, is my decision justified?
You say that you are vaccinated for yourself, so why do you care about my decision? And you say it “can’t be any clearer” that you wear a mask for me, but you never explained this idea.
If one thing IS clear, it is that the vaccinated (and even boosted) can contract and transmit the virus. Why are you denying this reality? It seems more dangerous to be vaccinated and falsely believe that you are immune than to be unvaccinated and take proper precautions.
Anyways, my answers differ from you:
I won’t die or be hospitalized from Covid-19
I do not live in fear
I understand that everyone, including the vaccinated, may give Covid to friends or family
And I have natural immunity which is far superior to any Covid vaccine
That is why I’m not vaccinated.
A Letter to the Unvaccinated
Excellent letter. I hope lots of people see it.
Please, please, post it!!!! The truth hurts but needs to be heard.... :) Anyway, your response is brilliant!!!
