No Variant is as Deadly as the Standard American Diet & Lifestyle

Diet is the single most important predictor of health. This is a fact whether you, your family, or the government want to believe it.
Yet, the CDC, despite claiming to follow the science, has never recommended lifestyle changes to lower individual risk of COVID-19.
This is the greatest disservice of our generation.
Standard American Diet vs. COVID-19
In 2021, 446,197 Americans died from COVID-19. This is a significant number, greater than any other country… except the 678,000 Americans who died from an unhealthy diet pre-pandemic, in 2016, blows it away!
Not only does the SAD increase the risk of COVID-19, but 200,000 MORE Americans die from their lifestyle than COVID per year.
Why does the US have such a high death rate? The CDC has admitted that obesity increases the risk of hospitalization and death from COVID-19. And guess what? The US adult obesity rate is 42.4%, one of the most obese nations in the world.
The combination of processed foods and a sedentary lifestyle is quite literally lethal. Only 1 in 10 Americans eat enough fruits and vegetables, despite studies demonstrating that people who eat the most fruits and vegetables have a 41% lower risk of severe COVID-19.
My Stance
The government had no problem implementing ineffective mandates, like masks, vaccinations, and social distancing, to slow the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. But they have done nothing to slow the obesity epidemic.
Now, I am not advocating for more governmental mandates (I would never!), but I do think that if the government really wanted to save lives, they would mandate, or at least support, a healthy lifestyle.
WHY doesn’t the Government Support a Healthy Lifestyle
I think Political correctness, money, and corruption are at the root of the government’s hands-off approach. Compared to the big money in vaccinations, there is no profit in Americans becoming naturally healthy. Also, Big Pharma, Big Food, and Big Farming, which control the government and profit off of Americans’ poor health, would never let it happen.
In other words, the government does not actually have our best interest at heart. Plain and simple.
In my view, Covid is a mix of temporary and chronic illness, with a heavy weighting on the chronic side. There are some problems that may be solved by the State, but it is largely a result of the actions that individuals take without knowing the consequences.
Some solutions, such as better diet could be implemented immediately if individuals chose to do so, but the emotional, social and traditional ties to food often make change a very slow process.
Other solutions require a societal change in terms of the food production, processing and preparation, medicines, chemicals, industrial processes and resource extraction we employ to maintain the lifestyle we want. It could take decades to make meaningfully impactful change.
You heard the good news though, right.
Russians are getting healthier.
